What Makes This Recipe Great

This may be my new favorite combo ever, which you all probably already know since the multiple recipes I have created with them. This Bacon, Pecan and Goat Cheese Bites are the perfect addition to any football gathering or fun Saturday night gourmet group dinner. Do not get overly scared by the instructions for these bits, it might look like it’s a labor intense recipe but I promise you it is not. These bites are the perfect size to pop in your mouth and savor the sweetness all at once. The layers of the puff pastry makes these bites irresistible and create a nice soft crunch. Make these delicious bites asap and repot back!!

Ingredient List

Bacon, Pecan & Goat Cheese Bites: A savory, crunchy, and creamy appetizer perfect for parties or snacking. Easy to make!
  • Puff Pastry– this is different then frozen pie dough
  • Egg
  • Goat Cheese– you will need soft goat cheese
  • Cream Cheese– be sure and use regular
  • Bacon
  • Brown Sugar
  • Pecans
  • Rosemary
  • Dijion Mustard
  • Coconut Aminos-soy sauce can be used in a pinch

Step By Step

  1. Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Roll them out slightly to thin them, then cut each sheet into 16 squares.
  2. Press each square into the muffin tin and poke the bottoms a few times with a fork.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of water, then brush the egg wash over the pastry squares.
  4. Bake the pastry for 20 minutes.
  5. While the pastry bakes, microwave the goat cheese and cream cheese for 1 minute to soften. Stir in the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and coconut aminos.
  6. In a pan over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon, leaving about 1 tbsp of bacon fat in the pan.
  7. Chop the bacon, then toast the pecans in the pan for 3 minutes. Add the chopped bacon and rosemary, stirring for another minute.
  8. Stir the bacon-pecan mixture into the goat cheese mixture until well combined.
  9. Once the puff pastry is baked, let it cool slightly, then add a tablespoon of the cheese mixture to each one.

Pro Tip

  • Most puff pastry come in a tow pack and are kept in the freezer until you need it. Once you remove them from the freezer they only last a few days in the fridge.

  • Sadly, these Bites will only bubble up and crisp if they are baked into muffin tins or another small container.

Ingredients 

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
