Asian Turkey Meatballs w/ Whole 30 Teriyaki
Ingredients
Scale
Meatballs:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup coconut flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Few cracks of pepper
Sauce:
- ½ cup coconut aminos (or tamari)
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 heaping teaspoon arrowroot powder + 1 teaspoon cold water (mixed together)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a medium bowl add turkey, egg, coconut flour, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt and pepper and mix to combine completely. Divide into 16 meatballs and place them in an 8×8 inch pyrex. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan combine coconut aminos, water, orange juice, garlic powder & ground ginger. Bring to a boil and add the arrowroot and water mixture. Whisk vigorously to keep from clumping! Pour sauce over the meatballs evenly and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Toss cooked meatballs in the sauce and garnish with sesame seeds!
SHUT UP I love this whole30 complaint teriyaki!!! I MUST make these balls. MUST. Love your stuff – looks so amazing and hubby approved!
Thanks Chrissa!!! You gotta try it!! Hubby approved is very important around this house!! 🙂 Let me know what you think!
These look so good Kelsey!! Can’t wait to try them – love coconut aminos! 🙂
Thanks Stacie!! Let me know if you try them!
What’s the serving size? nutrition facts?
I don’t share nutrition facts but it makes 4 large servings!
These look so delicious – can’t wait to try!!
Thanks!! I hope you enjoy them!!
Hi!! I’m super excited to make this, I actually have everything on hand. I’m curious, what did you prepare your caulirice with? Is it mixed with more of teriyaki sauce or something else delicious??
I link to my cauliflower fried rice recipe in this post! It is delish, coconut aminos (or soy sauce) and some spices!
If it’s made with soy sauce or tamari, it wouldn’t be Whole30 compliant.
Yes!
I just made these and they’re amazing! I used ground chicken thighs instead of turkey since I find it a little bland. Otherwise I followed the instructions exactly and it turned out great!
Yayy! So glad you liked it! And chicken thighs sound amazing for this!! 🙂
Do you think you could do this with chicken wings?
I am not sure how long they would take to cook but the sauce would be great on wings!
Can I sub almond flour for the coconut flour? Thoughts?
Yes you can!!
Would this be an equal amount of almond flour??
Yes!
I rated it 5 stars just based off the smell, I haven’t eaten them yet because tonight was a prep night but I’m VERY excited to. I have a question, my sauce became very gooey almost instantly when I added the arrowroot water mixture. Thoughts? Did I do too much? Was the water too cold/not cold enough? Suggestions for next time would be a huge help!!
Hello! Not sure about that! Maybe the water was too cold but the amount in the recipe should be correct! It also could be your burner was on too high. If you like it thinner you can use a little less!
WOW! So delicious! I doubled the recipe and baked in a 13×9 pyrex and it was perfect! I am in love! Perfect addition to the delicious cauli rice!
Awesome!! So glad you loved it!
